PRACTICAL GUIDE

How to build an online 3D gallery from photographs

The hard part is not hanging images on walls, but deciding what visitors see first, where they pause and what remains afterwards.

THE REAL QUESTION

Before choosing a room, decide what the visitor should understand or feel.

Albums sort by time and feeds by publication. A spatial exhibition can use distance, turns and pauses to create a deliberate viewing order.

A small, deliberate set of material

  • 8–20 photographs around one theme
  • A title and one viewing cue for each image
  • A short curatorial introduction
  • The orientation and dimensions of each image
  1. Remove repeated images that do not advance the theme
  2. Create an opening, development and ending
  3. Use orientation to plan walls and viewing distance
  4. Walk through in first person and adjust height

Can I make one without 3D skills?

Yes. Mindhall starts from existing spaces; the main work is arranging content, order and atmosphere.

Are my photographs uploaded to a server?

Projects are stored in the current browser by default. Mindhall does not currently provide a cloud project library.
