Turning travel photographs into a curated path
Rather than sorting photographs by timestamp, the sequence begins with the architectural scale of Yingxian Pagoda, moves through the painted figures and murals of Foguang and Shuanglin temples, and returns to cliff and sky at Yungang. Every work includes a bilingual title, viewing note and curatorial reason.
SOURCE MATERIAL
- 8 travel photographs of ancient Shanxi architecture
- Four threads: timber, sculpture, murals and grottoes
- Bilingual titles and curatorial reasons
KEY DECISIONS
- Use Yingxian Pagoda to establish scale
- Alternate wide views with close details
- Return to cliff and sky so the space opens again
A travel exhibition need not follow the itinerary. Find the theme that repeatedly drew your eye, then use space to shape the viewing rhythm.
